Winter is the Season to Strengthen Your Vitality
It needs to be replenished and balanced in the winter in order for our energy levels to remain strong for the rest of the year. Our Kidneys, Adrenals, and Bladder store the energy our body runs on. These 3 organs regulate the endocrine system, fluid metabolism, bone health and the reproduction system. The winter season applies to warm climates as well as cold. Protect yourself from becoming cold or feeling chilled in the winter. The cold winter will deplete your energy reserve for the entire year if you do not keep yourself warm. Besides the cold weather another energy grabber is over exerting yourself in the winter. Exercise is important but not at full throttle in the winter. It is the season to restore your energy banks. Slow down a little. Take a few more baths. Go to sleep earlier and wake up later. Revitalize your energy stores using more essential oils and drinking herbal teas that contain volatile oils.
Dress in layers so when the temperature drops you can reach for warmer clothes. Staying warm and dry is imperative. In cold weather, I literally go the barn to take care of the horses in snow pants and jacket, hat pulled down low and two layers of gloves. If the leather ones get wet, I can pull them off. I always wear thick wool socks. As soon as I come indoors, I make a hot cup of chai tea, it is loaded with warming herbs with a little zip of caffeine from white tea. I make my own chai tea steeping a white tea bag in water while heating almond milk until is scalds with clove powder, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Four warming herbs to nurture my Kidneys, Adrenals, and Bladder. Then I rest while I drink my tea. Exhaustion also depletes your energy reserved. Winter is the season to rest and center on your inner man, strengthen your spirit and clear your soul and mind. Find your center of peace and learn how to get there throughout the year. Awareness is important, maintain your energy and a peaceful countenance.
The horses enjoyed all the negative ions all night long from the rain and thaw to the ice and snow, in one night. Their spirit was light, eyes wide open and head held high. They were happy to interact with me. Harmony laid her face on mine and we shared or breath, their way of showing affection, we were face staring into my eyes. I said to her, “You good? I’m good.” She lifted up her head, nodded yes and walked away. I may not have experienced the same fresh air over night, filled with uplifting negative ions from nature, but I enjoyed sharing their energy and companionship in the morning.
Terrie, Jamie and I patched the driveway the following day. We scouted rocks and pieces of broken ash vault. We had to pry them loose from the ice. We used sand and tile grout mix, the gray powder. Terrie had a reserve in case of emergency. Thank you, Terrie, for thinking ahead. It’s patched well enough to drive over. It was a laborious cold morning.
By the time we finished the driveway I was ready for the warm house and recliner. When I went inside it was time to rest. First things first, hot Chai Tea and lunch, then a shower, and some more rest.
Working with essential oils revives your energy and has healthy virtues. It’s all in a day’s work. I always thought about essential oils as a luxury. Because I value them and realize their holistic benefits. Today, I think about them, as a staple of a holistic lifestyle.
